STEWARTS Pinned Products are widely used within the recycling industry and are custom designed and manufactured to meet our customer's machinery requirements.
Pinned products are used within the Bottle and Can recycling process to perforate, flatten and compress plastic bottles and aluminium cans, allowing them to be easily compacted into bails, thus making the transport process simpler, more efficient and more cost effective.
Pinned Rollers are used within paper recycling machines to pulverize the paper into fine particles ready for recycling.
From Interlocking "Tongue and Groove" Lags, to Flat Lags with Scallops, we have now made Pinned Lags for the Textile Industry for over 139 years. Over that period we have established the designs for most of the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) Lags which use our harder wearing and tempered pins for long life and excellent opening.
The unique STEWARTS design of interlocking aluminium alloy METALAG stave has firmly established itself in the World's fibre industries with its extended life and strength. Many hundreds of thousands have now been supplied to well over 60 countries over the past 60 years with their accuracy and long life well known. Indeed some of the original staves are still running after many repinnings. For high density pinning, N.I.F. (non-interference fit) METALAG staves have now demonstrated their accuracy and reliability.
The patented interlock between our STEWARTS METALAG staves means that adjoining staves contribute to the total strength of the assembly, and greatly reduces the chance of a catastrophic failure during a card smash event.
Fewer retaining screws are needed because the strength of the aluminium alloy together with the patented interlocking design is greater than standard staves. This reduces gaps between the pins, producing better carding and easier maintenance. In many cases the staves and lags can be made double the width, further reducing the problem of gaps. However the screw holes are still positioned so that the METALAG staves can be fitted in the place of wooden staves without modification, and it is even possible to mix complete rounds of conventional and METALAG staves.
